Description
A pair of Georgian painted portrait miniatures on paper, circa 1815. Each depicts a gentleman in profile, rendered in watercolour and wearing Regency-period attire with high-collared coats and cravats. The portraits are set within oval gilt-metal bezels and housed in rectangular black lacquered or papier-mâché frames. Each frame features a cast metal hanger in the form of an acorn and oak leaves. The reverse of one frame retains a handwritten identification label that reads, Sam Fernnex and Robert Fearnley / grandfather of Clare / John Gregory Wadsworth.
