Lot 146:
Description
A pair of cast metal decorative objects comprising a Tibetan ritual vajra and a naturalistic crab figurine. The vajra, or dorje, is a traditional ritual implement, featuring a central faceted grip flanked by stylised lotus bases and openwork scroll-form prongs. The crab is naturalistically modelled in the Japanese tradition, featuring fine textural details to the carapace and realistically formed limbs and pincers. Both pieces are cast in a copper alloy, likely bronze or brass, with a heavy, darkened patina and surface oxidation consistent with age. No maker’s marks or signatures are present. Vajra length approximately 16-21 cm; crab width approximately 10-12 cm.
