Lot 164:
Description
A finely cast two-part miniature Buddhist votive figure of Sino-Tibetan origin, rendered in a copper alloy with a dark brown patina. The figure depicts a seated Bodhisattva, likely Guanyin, in a meditative dhyanasana pose with hands positioned in a mudra. The deity wears an ornate crown and flowing robes that drape over the edge of the separate base. The second component consists of a rectangular stand with four scrolled legs and an integrated flame-edged mandorla featuring a central circular aperture and radiating incised details symbolising a nimbus of light. The figure is designed to be removable from the stand. The casting exhibits traditional techniques consistent with temple votive objects from the late 19th to early 20th century. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible. Measurements: Height approximately 8.5 cm; weight unavailable.
