Description
A Chinese carved soapstone seal of cylindrical form, the stone of a mottled tawny-yellow colour with natural reddish-brown inclusions. The seal is surmounted by a figure of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, seated in meditation and holding a sacred vase. The body is decorated with incised designs of a dragon amidst clouds. The base features a two-character auspicious seal mark reading 五福 (Wufu), translating to Five Blessings. Height: approximately 5.5 inches.
