Description

An antique police truncheon of turned hardwood construction, likely of British or American origin, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The piece is fashioned from a dense, dark timber such as lignum vitae or cocuswood, exhibiting a rich natural colour. The handle is designed with five deep circumferential ribs to ensure a secure grip, terminating in a rounded, bulbous pommel with a small integral button finial. The striking end is smooth and tapers slightly from the grip towards a rounded tip. There are no visible maker’s marks, department crests, or serial numbers, suggesting a standard-issue or civilian-market law enforcement piece. Total length: 16.75 inches.
