Lot 210:
Description
A finely cast bronze miniature animal sculpture known as an okimono, depicting a rat or mouse in a naturalistic, crouched pose. This piece is executed in the Meiji style, characteristic of Japanese decorative arts from the late 20th century. The sculpture features intricate hand-finished details, particularly in the texture of the fur, the delicate paws, and the long, gracefully curved tail. It was produced using the lost-wax casting technique. The underside bears a square recessed seal mark, indicating its East Asian origin. Height: 2.3cm. Weight: 169g.
