Description

An Edwardian silver-plated hot water or coffee pot produced by the Sheffield firm William Batt & Sons. The vessel is of tapered cylindrical form, featuring a gadrooned lower body and a spreading circular pedestal base finished with a reeded rim. The piece includes a hinged lid with a matching gadrooned dome and a lobed finial. The angular handle is fitted with two light-coloured heat insulators, likely bone or a composite material, to protect the hand from the heated metal. The underside of the base is stamped with the maker’s mark WB & Co. This design is characteristic of the Queen Anne revival style popular in English metalware during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Dimensions and weight unavailable.
