Lot 251:
Description
This is an unmarked small-scale block plane, frequently referred to as a “thumb plane” or “model maker’s plane,” designed for fine woodworking and detailed finishing tasks where a larger tool would be cumbersome. The tool features a cast iron body and lever cap finished in a characteristic forest green colour, typical of budget-friendly manufacturers from the mid-to-late 20th century such as Great Neck or various hardware house brands. The cutting iron is constructed from hardened steel, secured by a steel adjustment screw. No patent dates or maker’s marks are present on the casting or the iron. The tool is fully functional with a working screw mechanism and appears to consist entirely of original parts.
