Description
Rare Museum Quality huge Sevres circa 1751. A circular hard-paste porcelain dresser box or bonbonnière. The lid features a central polychrome hand-painted floral bouquet, surrounded by four blue-and-white feathered scroll motifs accented with gilded scalloped borders. The base is similarly decorated with scattered floral sprays on a white ground. Both the lid and the base are fitted with beaded metal rims. The underside bears an underglaze blue mark of interlaced letters, from the Sèvres factory, alongside a small gold oval sticker. This piece is characteristic of late 19th-century French decorative arts. Diameter: 6 inches; Height: 3.5 inches.
