Lot 48:
Description
A naturalistic taxidermy mount featuring a pair of small owls, likely Eastern Screech Owls (Megascops asio) or a similar Scops species (Otus sp.). The specimens are positioned on a weathered driftwood branch, mounted upon a circular, dark-stained wooden base. The base features a grooved rim intended for a glass cloche and is finished with a sandy substrate. This style of display is characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century natural history preservation. No taxidermist’s labels or provenance are present. Please note that these species are subject to international and local trade regulations; buyers must ensure compliance with relevant wildlife legislation such as CITES or the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
