A vintage Balinese hand-carved decorative wooden box, traditionally utilised for the storage of incense sticks or small personal items. This folk art piece is meticulously crafted from a dark-toned tropical hardwood and features a functional sliding lid mechanism. The lid is embellished with high-relief carvings of a frog and a lizard, alongside applied lighter-coloured carved floral rosettes. The longitudinal sides are decorated with incised repeating leaf patterns. The style is indicative of mid-20th century Southeast Asian craftsmanship, specifically from the Bali region.
