Lot 79:
Description
This lot comprises two Asian decorative objects. The first is a Japanese blue and white porcelain vase of ovoid form, dating to the late Meiji or Taisho period. The exterior is decorated in underglaze blue with a dense pattern of scrolling flowers and foliage, featuring teardrop-shaped medallions containing phoenixes (ho-o), which traditionally symbolise virtue and grace. The base bears a four-character underglaze blue seal mark reading Dai Nippon Zo (Made in Great Japan). The second item is a Chinese tripod vessel, likely a water pot or miniature censer, carved from a pale green celadon-toned hardstone, possibly nephrite or serpentine. It features twin handles intricately carved as dragon heads and stands on three short, stocky feet. The stone displays a soft lustre and natural inclusions characteristic of the material. Vase height: approximately 18 cm; Vessel width: approximately 10 cm (measurements estimated from visual context).
