This lot comprises three 19th-century Asian lacquer containers of varying forms. The primary piece is a large rectangular Chinese export black lacquer box, dating to the late Qing Dynasty. The lid is decorated in the miaojin technique with a finely detailed gilded scene depicting five figures, likely scholars or monks, within a lush garden landscape featuring a central pavilion and a bridge. The second item is a small rectangular black lacquer box of simple form, featuring a central metal plaque inlaid into the lid. The third item is a small oval black lacquer snuff box, decorated with a delicate floral spray in mother-of-pearl (raden) inlay. These pieces represent the diverse lacquer traditions of the 19th century, catering to both domestic and international markets. Large box: approximately 23 cm wide.
