Lot 86:
Description
This lot comprises a collection of three hand-carved wooden sculptures of diverse cultural origins. The primary piece is a large, elongated bust in a West African tribal style, featuring a tall, crested headdress and serene, stylised facial features. It is carved from a light-to-medium brown timber and stands on an integral circular plinth. Accompanying the bust are two smaller Chinese figurines intricately carved from a dense, dark-stained hardwood, possibly rosewood. One figurine depicts Shoulao, the God of Longevity, as a bearded elder holding a staff; the second depicts a female figure in traditional flowing robes with a deer. Both smaller sculptures are set on organic, rocky-style integral bases. No signatures, foundry marks, or edition numbers are visible. Large bust: 53.3 cm x 15.2 cm x 15.2 cm. Smaller figurines: 17.8 cm x 7.6 cm x 5.1 cm.
