Description
A vintage Goebel ceramic money box depicting the character Friar Tuck. The jovial figure is designed with a bald tonsure, grey hair, and a rotund belly, dressed in a dark chocolate-brown habit with a white knotted cincture. The piece features a horizontal coin slot to the reverse. The head, hands, and feet are finished with a smooth glossy glaze, while the habit has a contrasting matte bisque texture. The base is stamped in blue with Made in W. Germany and features an incised model number SD 14. A small hand-painted decorator mark is also present in black ink. Height: 11.5 cm.
