Description
A vintage glazed ceramic novelty pin dish or ashtray manufactured by Beswick of England. The piece features a central, hand-painted polychrome figurine of a cobbler seated upon a wooden crate, meticulously detailed in a green waistcoat, textured shirt, white apron, and blue trousers. The circular dish is finished in a smooth, uniform pale celadon-green glaze. This specific model was commissioned as advertising ware for Timpson Fine Shoes, produced to commemorate the company’s centenary (1865-1965). While no maker’s marks are visible on the underside in the provided images, the form and subject are well-documented as Beswick production. Diameter: approximately 7.5 inches.
