Description
An antique steelyard weighing scale manufactured by W & T Avery Ltd of Birmingham. The piece is constructed from forged and cast iron and features a long rectangular-section beam with a notched underside intended for a sliding poise. The assembly includes a large double hook for securing bulky loads, a single suspension hook, and a sliding assembly with a smaller hook for counterweights. The circular cast head of the scale displays raised lettering that reads MAKERS on the left and W & T AVERY LD on the right.

Condition report:
The item is in fair antique condition, exhibiting significant surface oxidation, rust, and pitting across all iron components. The mechanical parts remain mobile, though the scale is sold as a historical object and its accuracy is neither tested nor guaranteed. The large sliding poise weight is missing from the assembly.
