Description
A Royal Doulton polychrome glazed ceramic figurine depicting the character Reverend Stiggins from the Charles Dickens novel The Pickwick Papers. This miniature figure is hand-painted with a high-gloss finish. The character is portrayed with a sombre expression, wearing a black frock coat, dark green waistcoat, white cravat, and brown trousers, standing upon a square black plinth. The underside bears the green printed Royal Doulton factory mark featuring a lion atop a crown, the words Made in England, and the interlocking D monogram. The name Stiggins is printed in black serif typeface, accompanied by a small hand-painted X mark.
Height: approximately 10 cm.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. The glaze remains bright and glossy. Minor shelf wear and surface grime are present on the unglazed underside of the base.
