Description
This oval costume jewellery brooch features a central large oval cabochon set within an openwork scalloped frame. The cabochon is translucent and displays a colour gradient shifting from purple at the centre to teal-blue at the perimeter, consistent with a thermochromic mood stone or colour-treated glass. The frame is constructed from silver-toned metal with a textured, beaded edge. The reverse shows the adhesive backing for the cabochon and a horizontal pin mechanism with a roll-over safety catch. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the metal.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good vintage condition. The central stone is intact without visible chips. The silver-toned metal exhibits significant tarnish and oxidation throughout, particularly on the reverse and in the recessed areas of the frame. The pin mechanism is in working order.
