Lot 42:
Description
An assortment of British military ephemera and cloth insignia dating from the early 20th century through to contemporary service. The lot features a Royal Air Force Form 714 Rough Notebook for use in Laboratories and Workshops, which includes the handwritten inscription 406452 Cpl. Colley, 66. Course ATS. Personal mementos include several World War I period embroidered silk postcards with floral motifs and patriotic themes, notably one depicting a female figure in a dress incorporating the flags of Britain, France, and Belgium. Modern tactical items include a collection of British military Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) camouflage medical brassards, fitted with Velcro-backed embroidered patches of the Red Cross and Union Flag in standard and tactical colourways. The lot is further comprised of various woven and embroidered cloth patches, including a Royal Air Force shoulder title with roundel, various Cadet Force insignia, and unit badges such as a red diamond with yellow fleur-de-lis. Accessories include a vintage wooden storage box with brass hardware and a wooden folding ruler.
Condition report:
The modern MTP brassards and patches appear in good, service-used condition. The World War I silk postcards show age-related toning and minor fraying to the silk inserts, though the embroidery remains vibrant. The RAF notebook displays wear to the covers and edges consistent with its age and laboratory use. The wooden storage box shows surface scratches and an aged patina to the brass fittings.
