Lot 116:
Description
A mid-20th-century mechanical pop-up cigarette dispenser of cylindrical form. The exterior casing is finished in a dark blue polished material and features multiple inlaid silver-toned five-pointed stars. The device is constructed with a brass-toned metal lid and a central riser rod, which is surmounted by a cast metal finial in the form of a spread-wing eagle. When the finial is lifted, the internal mechanism deploys, revealing a fanned circular arrangement of individual brass-coloured cigarette holders. The construction utilizes a combination of metal and likely a synthetic resin or plastic for the body. No manufacturer marks, patent dates, or branding are visible on the exterior or the visible portions of the mechanism.
Condition report:
The item shows signs of wear consistent with age and use. The dark blue body exhibits minor surface scratches and light scuffing. There is visible tarnishing, oxidation, and some minor pitting to the brass-toned metal components, most notably on the eagle finial and the perimeter of the lid. The internal mechanical components and pop-up action appear to be in good functional condition.
