Lot 152:
Description
A collection of vintage cast metal military miniatures representing various historical units. The assembly features an assortment of infantry and cavalry figures, including several pieces depicting soldiers from the Kaiserreich era (1871-1918). Notable figures include infantrymen equipped with gas masks and helmets characteristic of the First World War period. The pieces are produced from a cast lead-based alloy and appear in both semi-flat and three-dimensional forms. Traces of original painted decoration remain on some figures, while others have developed a naturally aged, dark, oxidised patina. The collection is stored in a rectangular wooden box with a dark-stained exterior finish, fitted with a hinged lid and a brass-tone hook latch. No manufacturer stamps or markings are visible on the items or the container. The figures are consistent in style and construction with early 20th-century home-casting kits or commercially produced toy soldiers from the same era.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of significant age and historical use. The metal figures exhibit widespread paint loss, surface oxidation, and areas of tarnishing. Some figures show evidence of structural fatigue, including minor bending to limbs or accessories typical of soft lead alloys. The wooden box shows surface wear, including scratches, abrasions, and thinning of the exterior stain, particularly at the corners. The hardware remains in functional condition.
