Description
A collection of four domestic weather instruments of various styles and periods. The lot includes:
1. A presentation weather station mounted on a rectangular mahogany-toned wooden plinth. The central circular aneroid barometer features a silvered dial marked WEATHERMASTER with scales for millibars and inches. It is flanked by two brass-housed drum instruments, a thermometer to the left and a hygrometer to the right, both also marked WEATHERMASTER. A brass presentation plaque is fitted below, inscribed: Bro B. Hamlin P.G. SECRETARY LOYAL ALEXANDRA LODGE IOOF MUFS 1959 – 1983.
2. A large wall-mounted Baromaster aneroid barometer set within a circular turned wood plaque. The gold-toned dial features millibar and Cm/Hg scales with traditional weather indications in stylized script.
3. A circular combined instrument housed in a dark wood frame with a brass bezel. The white dial is marked THE NATURE COMPANY and features scales for a thermometer in Celsius and a hygrometer for relative humidity percentage.
4. A compact German aneroid barometer in a polished brass housing. The gold-toned dial is marked PRECISIONS-BAROMETER and uses German weather terms including REGEN, VERÄNDERLICH, and SCHÖN.
Baromaster barometer diameter: approximately 25.5 cm to 28 cm (10 to 11 inches).
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good aesthetic condition with no visible cracks to the glass faces. The brass components show minor surface tarnishing consistent with age and use. The wood mounts exhibit a good grain and original finish. All needles and adjustment knobs appear to be present. Mechanical function and accuracy have not been tested.
