Description
A collection of approximately 50 to 60 prepared glass microscope slides, including examples originating from the Faculté de Médecine de Paris. The collection comprises two tiers of standard rectangular glass slides, each featuring a mounted specimen under a cover slip. Most slides are accompanied by handwritten paper labels or printed identifiers. The specimens are of a biological and histological nature, with several exhibiting characteristic pink and purple histological stains, while others show botanical or entomological structures. One label in the bottom row features the printed text FAC MED PARIS, while others contain varied handwritten French script, including the word Plongée and various numerical references. The slides are contained within a simple wooden storage box featuring two internal rows of wooden slotted racks.
Condition report:
The storage box is in a distressed condition with substantial wear and significant loss to its original black paper or cloth exterior covering. The glass slides appear to be in generally good condition, although typical age-related yellowing and darkening of the mounting medium is evident throughout the collection. Several slots in the internal racks are empty.
