Description
This lot comprises a collection of stereoscopic viewers and a quantity of circular image reels under the View-Master brand. The group includes two viewers of differing periods. The first is a mottled brown plastic viewer, featuring a Bakelite-style appearance with a central circular logo depicting a stylized V or eye shape. It is equipped with an ivory-coloured side-mounted lever for reel advancement. The second is a later red molded plastic viewer with 3D VIEW-MASTER embossed on the top surface and a matching red advancement lever. The collection includes a large assortment of circular card reels with inset film transparencies. Many of these reels are housed in their original blue and white paper sleeves, which bear the text ONE VIEW-MASTER REEL and 7 THREE DIMENSION FULL COLOR PICTURES. Also included is an original cardboard storage box featuring black line art illustrations on the exterior. The box contains further reels and potential booklets, with one visible reel titled YUGOSLAVIA.
Condition report:
The items are in used vintage condition. Both plastic viewer bodies show surface scuffing, minor scratches, and age-related wear but remain structurally intact. The paper sleeves and card reels show typical signs of handling, including creasing, edge wear, and tanning consistent with age. The cardboard storage box exhibits edge wear and some structural softening. The mechanical advancement mechanisms have not been tested for functionality.
