Description
An E. Thomas & Williams Ltd. Cambrian type miner’s safety lamp, manufactured in 1986. The lamp is constructed from polished brass with a glass flame enclosure and contains a copper internal pricker. The upper chimney section features an applied oval brass plate inscribed with E. THOMAS & WILLIAMS LTD at the top, CAMBRIAN in the centre, NO 176648 beneath a crown symbol, and MAKERS · ABERDARE · WALES at the bottom. The base flange is incised with the date 1986 on one side and MADE IN WALES U.K. on the reverse. The glass cylinder is protected by five vertical brass rods and sits above a screw-off oil reservoir base. A circular brass hook is attached to the top for suspension. The item is accompanied by its original maroon cylindrical presentation tube, which is printed in gold-tone ink with the maker’s details and the title AUTHENTIC BRASS MINER’S OIL LAMP.

Lamp height: 25.5 cm
Tube height: 26.5 cm.
Condition report:
The lamp is in excellent, near-mint condition with a bright, high-polish finish throughout. It appears to be an unused commemorative or decorative piece. The original cardboard presentation tube shows minor surface wear and light scuffing to the exterior but remains structurally sound.
