Lot 22:
Description
A naturalistically modelled cast iron figure of a Holstein-Friesian dairy cow, depicted in a standing pose. The piece features detailed anatomical modelling, including visible ribs and a prominent udder. The figure is finished with polychrome paint in a black and white pattern with flesh-toned details to the muzzle and udder. Based on its weight and form, the figure was likely intended as a decorative hearth ornament or a doorstop. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible.
Length: approximately 20cm
Height: approximately 14cm.
Condition report:
The item displays significant wear consistent with age. There is widespread paint loss and chipping across the entire surface, exposing the underlying metal and some minor surface oxidation. The casting appears structurally sound with no evidence of breaks or restoration.
