Lot 172:
Description
A vintage hand-carved wooden folding book stand, or rehal, constructed from two interlocking panels of dark-stained wood. Both panels are decorated with intricate pierced and relief-carved scrolling foliate and floral motifs. The stand is designed to fold flat for storage and interlocks to form a cross-frame support for open volumes. The construction relies on the natural fit of the carved wood without the use of additional hardware. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are present.
Width (folded): Approximately 6 inches.
Condition report:
The item shows minor surface wear and small chips to the carved edges consistent with age and use. The interlocking folding mechanism is functional and intact.
