Description
A large vintage Chinese jewellery box of rectangular form, constructed from a dark polished hardwood resembling rosewood. The box is assembled with visible finger-jointed corners and is fitted with decorative solid brass hardware. The hinged lid features a central circular carved panel depicting a stylised Shou symbol, representing longevity, set within a raised frame. The front is mounted with an ornate engraved brass latch plate with foliate motifs and a sliding pin closure. The sides are fitted with brass carrying handles set against floral-form backplates. The interior is fully lined in a red patterned fabric and contains a removable upper tray with a central storage compartment and two ring rolls.

Condition report:
The box is in good vintage condition with minor surface wear and light scratches to the wood consistent with age and use. The brass mounts show a light patina and some minor tarnish. The interior fabric lining remains clean and intact. All hardware and hinges are in functional order.
