Description
This lot comprises two decorative desk globes of differing designs. The larger item is an antique-style globe featuring a cream-coloured ground and dual-language cartography in English and Chinese. The map includes illustrated nautical motifs, historical sailing vessels, and geographical details such as ocean currents and mountain ranges. It is mounted on a turned, mahogany-toned wooden circular base with a gold-finish metal axis and meridian. A printed legend in the South Pacific Ocean includes the scale 1:64 000 000 and the mark GS(2020)3288.
The second item is a contemporary miniature desk globe featuring a high-contrast black ground for the oceans and metallic gold-toned landmasses. The cartography utilizes modern typography and includes a numbered key for European nations. This globe is supported by a polished chrome-finish metal pedestal base and meridian arm.
Large globe height: approximately 33 cm
Small globe height: approximately 20 cm.
Condition report:
Both globes are in good to excellent used condition. The antique-style globe shows no apparent damage or significant wear. The modern miniature globe retains a bright, reflective finish on the chrome-finish base with minimal surface marks consistent with light use.
