Description
An academic mortarboard cap manufactured by Wm. Northam & Co. Ltd. of Oxford. The item features a square board top covered in a black wool or felt fabric, with a fixed black corded tassel attached. The base of the cap is a rounded skull-cap design. The interior is lined with a dark blue quilted fabric. A manufacturer label is situated at the centre of the interior crown under a clear plastic shield, printed with By Special Appointment to the University of London, Wm. Northam & Co. Ltd. Robe Makers, 119 High Street, Oxford, OX1 4BX. A small white circular sticker is attached to the label with the size 7 1/8 handwritten in ink.

Condition report:
The cap is in good vintage condition. There is evidence of light surface lint and dust on the exterior black fabric. The interior lining and manufacturer label are well-preserved with no visible staining, tears, or significant wear.
