Lot 76:
Description
A Signet brand clarinet manufactured by The Selmer Company. The instrument is constructed with a dark wood body and features nickel or silver-plated keywork in a traditional Boehm system configuration. The clarinet is disassembled into five primary sections: mouthpiece with a black plastic cap and metal ligature, barrel, upper joint, lower joint, and bell. The bell features an engraved circular emblem containing the Signet logo. A notable modification is present on the lower joint, consisting of a black rectangular electronic pickup mount with three circular ports and a sliding control, likely intended for an amplification system. The instrument is housed in its original black hard-shell case, which bears a Signet metal badge and is printed with The Selmer Company on the lower right of the lid. A vintage retailer sticker for Windblowers Woodwind and Brass of Nottingham, UK, is affixed to the exterior. Accessories include a black cleaning swab and several reed cases.
Condition report:
The instrument is in a well-used condition. The metal keywork shows visible tarnishing throughout. The cork connectors on the joints exhibit signs of compression and wear. The exterior of the case shows scuffing and surface wear, while the interior pink plush lining is heavily frayed and worn, particularly around the joint compartments. The playing condition is untested.
