Description
A vintage precision block level manufactured by Watts, London. The instrument is constructed with a heavy cast iron body finished in grey paint and features a precision-ground base with a longitudinal V-groove, suitable for use on both flat and cylindrical surfaces. The metal faceplate is engraved with the text 8" PRECISION BLOCK LEVEL, the maker’s logo for WATTS LONDON, serial number 102340, MADE IN ENGLAND, and sensitivity specifications reading DIV= 0.001IN. IN 10 IN. / 0.1 MM/M. The device includes a primary longitudinal spirit vial and a smaller transverse cross-leveling vial. It is contained within its original black-painted wooden storage box with a hinged lid and a fabric-lined interior.

Condition report:
The instrument shows signs of industrial wear consistent with age and use. There is a noticeable area of finish loss on the faceplate near the serial number exposing the brass metal beneath. The machined base has light surface staining and minor oxidation. The glass spirit vials remain intact and functional. The wooden case exhibits external scuffing and the interior lining is discoloured and shows wear from use.
