Lot 81:
Description
A varied collection of vintage fishing equipment and accessories. The lot includes a Mitchell spinning reel, likely model 324, accompanied by an original instruction manual for models 320, 321, 324, and 325. Also present is a RoddyMatic by Roddy Model 32 single-action fly reel in its original cardboard packaging, featuring a distribution sticker for Haswells of London. A prominent feature is a large, dark-finished fly reel with twin turned wooden handles, housed in a silk-lined wooden presentation box along with two large curved metal hooks. The collection further comprises two aluminium fly boxes containing a variety of tied flies, and several boxed lures including an ABU Atom (20g-3/4 oz) and a Record-branded spoon lure. Additional items include spools of Sylcast Perlon fishing line, a yellow card of Hameçons montés hooks, packets of reservoir streamers, and a black tackle case containing various colourful floats. The items are primarily of mid-20th-century manufacture with origins indicated from Sweden, France, and the United Kingdom.
Condition report:
The collection shows visible signs of age and previous use. The reels exhibit surface wear, scuffing, and some oxidation to metal components. Original cardboard packaging for the Roddy reel and lures shows significant wear, creasing, and minor tearing. The metal fly boxes have some surface scratches and pitting. Flies and streamers vary in condition, with some showing signs of use and feather loss. The wooden presentation box has minor surface abrasions and the silk lining shows some discolouration and fraying. Overall, the lot is in fair to good vintage condition.
