Description
This lot comprises two vintage painted tinplate toys. The first item is a clockwork saloon car, designed in a 1930s style with a blue body and black mudguards. It is constructed from pressed tinplate and features a clockwork mechanism with a winding point on the passenger side. The second item is a novelty toy mouse, finished in a shiny black colour with pink painted ears and a flexible coiled wire tail. The mouse is similar in design to The Mysterious Wonder Mouse magic trick toy. It displays an impressed mark reading MADE IN on the rear side, although the specific country of origin is not clearly legible. A small V-shaped mark is also present on the upper back of the mouse.
Saloon car length: approximately 11.5 cm
Mouse length: approximately 16.5 cm (including tail).
Condition report:
The saloon car shows heavy signs of age and play wear, with significant paint chipping, surface oxidation, and scratches across the body. The original winding key is missing, and the clockwork mechanism has not been tested for functionality. The tinplate mouse is in generally good condition, retaining a bright finish with some light surface scuffs. The coiled tail remains intact and flexible. Both items are sold as untested.
