Description
A vintage gas table lighter produced by Ronson featuring a Wedgwood Jasperware base. The ceramic base is of elongated oval form, crafted in traditional pale blue Jasperware with white sprigged bas-relief decoration. The neoclassical scene depicts two putti in a chariot drawn by a pair of lions. The lighter is fitted with a chrome-plated Ronson Varaflame mechanism, designed for gas refilling. The underside of the base is impressed with the marks WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND. The central refill component is marked RONSON, MADE IN ENGLAND, and REGD TRADE MARK. The item includes its original two-part cardboard presentation box, printed with Ronson Varaflame gas and Ronson Wedgwood Jasperware. The base retains green felt pads and a small adhesive inventory label marked BW.279.

Condition report:
The Jasperware base is in good condition, showing no signs of chips, cracks, or restoration. The white relief decoration is crisp and well-defined. The chrome-plated mechanism shows minor surface wear and light scratches commensurate with age. The original box is present and intact, showing scuffing to the edges, rubbing, and general shelf wear. The lighter is untested for functionality.
