Description
A lot consisting of two vintage hats: a gentleman’s formal top hat and a ladies’ fascinator-style pillbox hat. The top hat is crafted from black felt with a curled brim and a matching black grosgrain ribbon band. The interior is lined with black satin and features a leather sweatband with a small decorative bow at the rear. The interior crown bears a white printed maker’s mark for Austin Reed Ltd., Regent Street, London W.1, featuring a central A logo within a diamond. The ladies’ hat is a pillbox-style fascinator, featuring a black fabric crown and a white side band overlaid with black diamond-patterned netting. The piece is embellished with a large black fabric rose, voluminous black tulle accents, and a pair of long black grosgrain ribbon streamers at the back. The lot is accompanied by a vintage cardboard hat box from Cole Bros. of Sheffield, which includes a label for Specialists in Men’s and Boys’ Outfitting.

Condition report:
The top hat is in very good vintage condition, with the felt, ribbon, and interior lining well-preserved. The ladies\' fascinator is in good condition, showing some minor age-related softening to the mesh and tulle structure. The accompanying Cole Bros. cardboard box shows typical signs of age-related wear, including discolouration and minor structural softening.
