Description
This collection comprises multiple metal belt buckles and two leather belts featuring Western, commemorative, and novelty designs. One prominent oval buckle is silver-plated and displays a relief of an eagle amongst floral scrollwork, with a reverse stamp for The Great American Buckle Co. dated 1989. A black leather belt is fitted with a circular buckle featuring a red enamel Fire Department Maltese cross and FD monogram. The group also contains a polychrome Country Western buckle depicting a three-piece band, a brass-toned Pony Express rider buckle, and a large novelty buckle with a central spider on a web flanked by red rose motifs. Other designs include a rectangular buckle with a dragon and phoenix in relief with red and gold accents dated 1987, an oval buckle depicting two horse heads with a rope-style border, and a simple silver-toned plate buckle with a stylized J motif. The items are constructed from various metal alloys with enamelled or plated finishes. One brown leather belt is included. Reverse markings and numbering labels are visible on several pieces.
Condition report:
All items show signs of wear and age commensurate with use. The metal buckles exhibit surface scratching, tarnishing, and some loss to the painted or enamelled finishes. The leather belts show creasing, stretching at the fastener holes, and general surface abrasions. Marks on the reverse are worn and partially illegible in places.
