Description
A Silver Cross Balmoral coach-built baby pram featuring a high-gloss black painted body and chrome-plated chassis. The carriage is constructed with a steel body and a traditional C-spring suspension system linked by leather straps. A raised cursive badge on the side of the body is marked Silver Cross. The pram includes a folding navy fabric hood with decorative chrome-plated S joints and flower-patterned tensioning knobs, alongside a matching fabric apron. It is equipped with four spoked metal wheels fitted with solid white rubber tyres and a foot-operated lever brake. A detachable chrome-plated wire shopping basket is located underneath the body. Accompanying the pram is a green fabric sunshade with a white fringed border and a metal frame.
Condition report:
The painted coachwork shows surface scratches and scuffing throughout. Chrome-plated surfaces, including the chassis, basket, and handle, exhibit pitting, tarnish, and oxidation. The fabric components are dusty and show signs of light fading with some adherent animal hair. The leather suspension straps are heavily aged and show significant surface cracking. The white rubber tyres are discoloured and show perishing and cracking consistent with age. Metal wheels show light surface corrosion to the spokes.
