Description
A collection of three vintage fishing reels of various types and materials. The group includes a J.W. Young and Sons Ltd Condex fly reel featuring a green-painted finish and a circular maker’s label on the backplate indicating its Redditch, England origin. Also included is a large Nottingham-style starback reel constructed from wood with a brass cross-back mount and twin dark-coloured handles. The trio is completed by a small brass fly reel of simple construction with a single winding handle and a fixed rectangular foot, currently wound with period line.

Green reel diameter: 3.5 inches
Brass reel diameter: 2 inches.
Condition report:
The green J.W. Young reel shows significant paint loss, chipping, and surface oxidation to the metal. The wooden starback reel exhibits surface wear, scratches, and tarnish to the brass components consistent with age and field use. The small brass reel displays a heavy surface patina and oxidation throughout. All items are in used vintage condition.
