A mid-20th century brass cased aneroid barometer manufactured by Shortland Bowen Instruments. The circular instrument features a polished brass cylindrical case with a large integral suspension ring at the top. The white-finished metal dial is printed with a millibar scale ranging from 860 to 1050. It is fitted with two hands: a black steel indicator needle and a secondary gilt-metal reference hand, adjustable via a central knob on the glass face. The dial is marked MILLIBARS at the top, ANEROID BAROMETER in the centre, COMPENSATED FOR TEMPERATURE below that, and SHORTLAND BOWEN INSTRUMENTS at the base. The reverse of the case has three securing screws and a central adjustment aperture.

Case Diameter: 3.5 inches (8.9 cm)

Overall Height: 5 inches (12.7 cm).

Condition report:

The brass housing shows significant surface wear including fine scratches, minor pitting, and areas of oxidation consistent with age and use. The dial remains clear with only minor instances of foxing or spotting. The glass crystal is intact with light surface scuffing and dust accumulation under the rim. Mechanical function is untested.
