Description
A cast bronze sculpture depicting the ancient Egyptian deity Anubis, the jackal-headed god of the afterlife. The figure is shown in a traditional striding pose with the left foot forward, wearing a pleated shendyt kilt, a broad wesekh collar, and a tripartite wig. The figure holds a stylized scepter in the left hand. This modern reproduction in the Pharaonic style is cast in solid bronze with a dark brown patina. The sculpture is fixed to an integral rectangular bronze base which is mounted upon a larger black-finished rectangular plinth. The reverse of the bronze base is incised with the text reproduction BRONZE. The front of the plinth features a brass-toned plaque inscribed with the text ANUBIS Reproduction en bronze.
Height: Approximately 18 cm.
Condition report:
The item is in very good condition with minor surface dust in the crevices of the casting. There is very light shelf wear to the edges and corners of the black-finished plinth. The bronze patina remains uniform with no signs of oxidation, scratches, or damage.
