Description

A trio of English sterling silver thimbles, each bearing Birmingham assay office hallmarks. The first thimble is of classic tapered form with a dimpled top and a decorative lower band featuring an interlocking geometric star pattern. It is stamped with the maker mark H.G&S for Henry Griffith and Sons Ltd, the lion passant, anchor, the date letter u for 1919, and size number 16. The second thimble features a textured finish across the body with two smooth horizontal bands. It is stamped with the maker mark CH for Charles Horner, the lion passant, anchor, and the date letter u for 1919. The third thimble has a flared rim and embossed decoration of vertical oval medallions containing stars, separated by decorative pillars. It is stamped with the maker mark J.S&S for James Swann and Son, the lion passant, anchor, the date letter s for 1917, and size number 9.

Condition report:

All three items appear to be in good antique condition. There is light surface tarnishing and minor age-related wear to the decorative motifs throughout. No significant dents, misshaping, or puncture holes are visible on the dimpled tops.
