Description

Two mechanical metronomes housed in wooden pyramidal cases. The darker-toned unit is manufactured by Wittner and features a mahogany-stained wooden finish. The removable front cover is adorned with a silver-tone diamond-shaped emblem containing a tuning fork symbol. The internal faceplate includes a tempo scale from 40 to 208 beats per minute with corresponding musical terminology and the Wittner brand name at the base. The lighter-toned metronome is manufactured by Paquet in France, as indicated by the label on the front cover which references Maelzel 1815 and Paquet 1846. This unit features a light wood finish and a coat of arms emblem on the faceplate. Both metronomes are equipped with internal clockwork mechanisms, metal winding keys, and sliding counterweights on metal pendulums.
Height: 23 cm
Width: 11.5 cm.

Condition report:

Both instruments are in functional working order with pendulums oscillating freely. The Wittner metronome is in excellent cosmetic condition. The Paquet metronome shows minor age-related wear, including surface scuffs and light wear to the finish around the base. Both units are complete with their original front covers and winding keys.
