Lot 152:
Description
A pair of natural bone knobs featuring hand-painted scrimshaw-style illustrations of stags. Each mushroom-shaped piece is constructed from bone exhibiting a characteristic porous structure, with domed tops and tapering pedestal bases. The decoration depicts two different stags in naturalistic settings, one in a leaping gait and the other standing in a grassy landscape with light green accents. A signature reading L. VERNER is present beneath the grass line on one knob. The pedestal bases terminate in rounded feet, each containing a central threaded hole for mounting purposes.
Diameter: 3.8 cm.
Condition report:
Minor surface wear and light surface scratches consistent with age and use. Natural variations in the bone colour and vascular pitting are visible throughout the material.
