Description
A vintage cast iron advertising sign comprising a rectangular panel with a pointed arrow-head terminal to the right. The sign is finished in a cream body colour with a raised black-painted outer border. The central field features the word GUINNESS in raised black block lettering, positioned above the text ST JAMES’S GATE BREWERY DUBLIN. To the right is a multi-coloured relief graphic depicting the John Gilroy flying toucan, shown with a pint of stout balanced atop its beak. A small raised registered trademark symbol is located to the upper right of the final letter in the brand name. The reverse is unpainted, and the piece features four pre-drilled mounting holes at the corners. The sign displays a granular surface texture characteristic of the sand-casting process.

Condition report:
The sign is in a used vintage condition with visible oxidation and rust spots around the pre-drilled mounting holes and the outer black border. There is general paint wear and scuffing to the raised lettering and across the cream background. Surface pitting is present throughout the metal body, consistent with the manufacturing process. The painted toucan graphic retains vibrant colour with minor losses at the edges of the relief.
