Lot 217:
Description
A die-struck brass cap badge for the West Riding Royal Horse Artillery featuring a central field gun with a functional twelve-spoke rotating wheel. The central gun is surmounted by a Tudor Crown positioned above a scroll inscribed WEST RIDING. The design is completed by a lower three-part scroll inscribed ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY. The reverse is hollow-struck and retains three original wire attachment lugs, with one located behind the crown and two at the distal ends of the lower scroll. The badge exhibits a crisp strike with well-defined details to the gun carriage and lettering.
Condition report:
The badge is in good original condition with a natural aged patina across the brass surface (photo 1). The central wheel remains fully functional and rotates freely on the axle (photo 1). All three original attachment loops are present and securely fixed to the reverse, showing only minor bending consistent with previous wear (photo 2). There are no visible signs of heavy polishing or loss to the die-struck details.
