Description
A vintage Gold collection of approximately twenty-five vanity and dressing table accessories comprising a diverse range of mid-century items. The collection features a variety of powder compacts including a shell-shaped example with fluted decoration, multiple round pieces with engine-turned or engraved patterns, and rectangular forms. Decorative lids display a neoclassical scene of figures in a landscape, a multi-coloured floral and geometric enamel design, and a cream-coloured marbled surface with a diamante-set musical motif. One compact incorporates a floral tapestry insert under a protective cover. Grooming items include a hairbrush with a white quilted celluloid top and a central gold wreath motif, a second brush with an ornate openwork handle, and a single lipstick case. The lot is further complemented by a blue and white ceramic circular lidded box with classical relief figures, a black rectangular box with a central clear stone, and a square jewellery box constructed from distressed mirrored glass panels. No legible maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces.

Condition report:
The collection is in varied vintage condition. Significant tarnishing, surface oxidation, and pitting are visible to several Gold surfaces (Photo 1). The mirrored jewellery box displays extensive foxing and loss of silvering to the glass panels (Photo 1). General surface scratches, fading to lid decorations, and wear to brush bristles are present throughout the lot (Photo 2).
