Description
A Victorian walnut jewellery box featuring a highly figured grain and decorative brass star-shaped inlay to the centre of the lid. The box is constructed with matching brass escutcheons to the main body and the lower drawer, and is fitted with brass hinges. The interior is lined with red velvet and silk, containing a removable top tray with multiple compartments for organisation. The lower drawer is operated by a brass pin mechanism located at the rear of the main internal compartment. A gold key on a link chain and a large safety pin with a suspended bead charm are present within the drawer. The main lock plate is shaped as an eight-pointed star, and a secondary lock is fitted to the drawer front.

Condition report:
The box shows significant signs of wear and age. The internal red velvet and silk lining is heavily distressed with visible fraying, staining, and areas of loss. The wooden exterior exhibits surface scratches, scuffs, and a notable area of damage to the rear corner of the lid. The brass inlays show surface tarnishing and wear. Hinge and lock functionality is unverified.
