Lot 138:
Description
A life-size plaster life mask of a mature male subject, finished in a metallic gold pigment. The sculpture is rendered in a naturalistic style, capturing fine anatomical details including facial creases, closed eyelids, and the specific contours of the nose and chin. The casting displays a calm, neutral expression. The reverse is unfinished, showing the raw textured plaster consistent with the casting process. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the surface of the piece.
Height: 24 cm
Width: 16.5 cm.
Condition report:
The mask shows a visible hairline crack extending horizontally across the upper forehead (photo 1). There is minor scuffing and uneven application of the gold finish around the chin and edges (photo 2). The surface texture is slightly irregular, which is typical of plaster casting.
